Black Future Month: Honoring Stacey Abrams

Welcome to #BlackFutureMonth, Equality North Carolina's month-long celebration of Blackness and Black Americans who are collectively transforming the future of American life.

We're kicking off #BlackFutureMonth by honoring the incomparable Stacey Abrams, whose name has been on everyone's lips since Georgia turned blue during the 2020 election cycle.

Stacey has dedicated her life and career to battling voter suppression and the systems that keep Black Americans and other marginalized groups from having their voices heard at the ballot box. Her organization Fair Fight Action is committed to combating voter suppression and played an integral role in delivering Georgia to the Democrats in the 2020 election.

While she's been doing this work her entire life, Stacey rocketed to national attention during the 2018 Georgia governor's race -- a race that she was the rightful winner of, but ultimately lost due to blatant voter disenfranchisement. It was a loss that only galvanized her to fight even harder for Black and Brown Americans to have an equal voice within the political arena.

At Equality North Carolina, we know the effects of voter suppression all too well and are committed to embodying the spirit of Stacey Abrams to ensure every North Carolinian has a fair fight.

The work of Stacey Abrams and Fair Fight is far bigger than a single person -- it's a movement committed to ensuring that the electoral process works for all Americans.

In the spirit of a more inclusive, equitable North Carolina, we hope you'll join us in both celebrating Black Future Month and contributing towards this fight here in our home state today.
