Equality North Carolina Remains Firm Against Ongoing Attacks

No matter who we are or where we come from, most North Carolinians value our freedom to live authentically and without fear. But today, these freedoms are under immediate and urgent attack. Recent executive orders from the Trump administration are blatant attempts to control our lives and decide our futures, targeting marginalized communities to advance the interests of a wealthy and powerful few.

By issuing an executive order titled "Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism And Restoring Biological Truth To The Federal Government" and at least two others, the administration seeks to define gender strictly as male or female based on birth assignment, eliminate "gender ideology," continue efforts to limit what our IDs and records can reflect, and erode previous protections.

This action disregards the existence and rights of transgender and non-binary individuals, undermining their dignity and humanity. Such a narrow and exclusionary definition fails to reflect the rich diversity of human experiences and identities.

At Equality North Carolina, we know the community can defeat hate and discrimination by joining across races, genders, and identities. We've done it before, and we will do it again. We call on our leaders to reject these attacks, stand firm for the rights of all North Carolinians, and protect our shared future. Together, we will continue fighting for a state where everyone can thrive, regardless of identity. Our unity is our greatest strength.

Now is the time to act. Join us in speaking out, organizing, and building a movement to protect our freedoms and ensure liberty and justice for everyone. Your voice, your actions, and your commitment are crucial. Follow our social media, sign up to join our volunteer network, and help us create a safer North Carolina for all, especially our queer and trans community who continue to face harmful attacks on their ability to live their life authentically and safely.

"The actions taken by this Trump  Administration are a direct assault on the rights and dignity of LGBTQ+ people across North Carolina. These measures not only harm our community but also fuel dangerous rhetoric and pave the way for more discriminatory legislation. Equality North Carolina will not stand idly by. We will fight back against these attacks and the misinformation they spread while working hand-in-hand with our partners and leaders across the state to ensure protections for our community and uphold the values of equality and justice for all," Eliazar Posada (he/him) Executive Director of Equality North Carolina.

Together, we fight; together, we win. Join the fight today.
