Equality NC’s RACE TO THE BALLOT Honored by National Association

Equality NC, North Carolina’s leading statewide Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) advocacy organization, was honored this month with two of the five awards presented at the Equality Federation Summer Meeting. Equality Federation is the national association of statewide LGBT advocacy organizations, and the annual "Feddie" awards are nominated and voted on by the leaders of state groups across the country.
The awards (“Best Fundraising Effort” and “Most ImPRESSive Coverage”) honored the fundraising and communications efforts spearheaded by Equality NC’s RACE TO THE BALLOT campaign, a statewide tour designed to educate and engage North Carolinians surrounding the harms of Amendment One, North Carolina’s recent ban on the freedom to marry.
"We are so pleased to be recognized by our colleagues across the nation—who are themselves doing ground-breaking work every day—for the amazing work of our staff, interns, volunteers, supporters and activists from our first RACE TO BALLOT stop in Cullowhee to our conclusion in Wilmington,” said Stuart Campbell, Equality NC’s Executive Director. "Choosing North Carolina for these awards, despite the passage of Amendment One, sends a strong signal that our movement values and supports our tireless pursuance of equality in the face of adversity."
