Equality NC Responds to GOP Intervention in Marriage Equality Cases

LGBT Organization Calls on Tillis, Berger to Stop "Inconsequential" Action

RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 9, 2014) -- Equality NC, the state's leading advocacy organization for gay, lesbian , bisexual and transgender North Carolinians, immediately responded today to news Thursday that North Carolina's GOP leadership intend to intervene in the state's impending marriage equality ruling.

"Any last ditch efforts by GOP leaders Thom Tillis and Phil Berger to use our taxpayer dollars to somehow thwart the inevitable freedom to marry in the state of North Carolina are both reprehensible and inconsequential. Love has won, and the time to play politics with Tar Heel families is done."

The organization is calling on its supporters to contact Speaker Thom Tillis's office to demand he allow the imminent ruling to stand: 919-733-3451 and 704-248-2980.
