A tangible way to help trans folks this Pride month

Equality NC Family,

I hope you've been enjoying the kick off to Pride season in your respective cities across the state. This week, you'll be hearing from us a few times related to some important moments in LGBTQ history. But today I wanted to reach out with a tangible ask surrounding the alarming recent change in health care protections for trans folks in this country.

As I'm sure you remember, last month the Trump administration announced a rollback of Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, which prohibits discrimination in health coverage and care. This proposed change will allow health care providers to discriminate against trans folks and prevent them from receiving the care they need to survive.

This week, we're asking ENC supporters to help #ProtectTransHealth by submitting a comment to the Department of Health and Human Services and telling them why you oppose the new rule -- and, most importantly, sharing your own story. You can do this through a portal on the NCTE website.

Please, lend your voice to the conversation today -- it's more important than ever.

Talk soon,
Kendra R. Johnson
Equality NC Executive Director
