The Opportunity - About Equality North Carolina

Equality North Carolina (ENC) is the oldest statewide organization in North Carolina dedicated to advancing LGBTQ+ rights and protections. Headquartered in The Triangle, ENC builds LGBTQ+ power through advocacy, education, and storytelling to pursue racial and social justice.

Working across state and local governments, ENC mobilizes communities on critical issues like LGBTQ+ inclusive laws, parental rights, equitable healthcare access, and voter engagement. ENC has been at the forefront of every significant LGBTQ+ fight in the state, including the defeat of HB2 and the passage of 22 fully inclusive nondiscrimination ordinances.

Today, ENC comprises three entities:
- Equality NC (501(c)(4)) for lobbying and electing pro-equality candidates
- Equality NC Foundation (501(c)(3)) for educational programming and campaigns
- Equality NC Action Fund (PAC) for campaign expenditures

Despite ongoing challenges, ENC envisions a thriving, liberated North Carolina with a strong LGBTQ+ community united in the fight for justice.
