Equality NC employs a strategy that combines strong, professional lobbying with grassroots organizing that empowers LGBT and allied citizens across the state to become powerful advocates for equality.
Since 1992, Equality NC has provided a consistent lobbying presence in the North Carolina General Assembly, advocating for equal rights. Our team of professional lobbyists ensure that the LGBT community is represented at the General Assembly every day when the legislature is in session.
Our lobbyists are excellent advocates, but they can't do it alone. We've learned that LGBT and allied constituents can be the most effective advocates for equal rights. Putting a human face on issues like discrimination and violence helps us change legislators' hearts and minds.
That's why Equality NC works hard to engage our supporters in our advocacy work. Whether it's participating in one of our Lobby Days in Raleigh, using our online Action Center to email decision makers on current legislation, or inviting an elected official over for dinner to meet your family, people like you are a critical part of our work.
