North Carolina Voters for Clean Elections

North Carolina Voters for Clean Elections (NCVCE) is the coordinating body for a growing number of organizations concerned about the harmful effects of the current campaign financing system on our lives and our democracy.

The skyrocketing cost of elections stops many qualified people from running for office and traps many who do run in an almost endless chase for campaign money. This money-chase gives wealthy donors too much influence, burdens taxpayers with the high cost of special favors, and makes citizens cynical about the value of their vote.

NCVCE seeks to improve the vitality of democracy in North Carolina by enacting a voluntary public financing program for state-level candidates who earn the public's trust. A Clean Election program would encourage candidates to reject all special-interest donations and rely solely on voters for their support. This program has been enacted and utilized in Maine and Arizona by over 150 Republicans, Democrats, and Independents.

Equality NC believes in equal access to the political process for all North Carolinians and is a member of NCVCE.
