Democracy Project
Equality NC Foundation acts as the North Carolina coordinator for the Democracy Project of the Gill Foundation. This effort allows LGBT and allied organizations to more effectively use their lists and promotes collaboration among organizations.
The Democracy Project is a non-partisan, non-ideological effort to help organizations serving
lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people and their allies raise
more money, lobby more effectively, strengthen relationships with
supporters and build alliances with other organizations. This is
achieved by providing organizations with updated and enhanced data on
their list of supporters, which in turn allows them to be more
strategic and targeted with their outreach. The project includes more than 20 state and local organizations in North Carolina and more than 50 national groups.
Equality NC Foundation works to engage LGBT and ally groups to participate in the project and use the tools the project provides to more effectively collaborate with each other. We have also helped form unique partnerships between the Democracy Project and North Carolina's other two progressive list enhancement programs, NetCorps LEAP and Conservation Council of North Carolina.
The Democracy Project is a special project of the Gill Foundation, the nation's largest funder focused principally on LGBT civil rights. Click here to learn more about the Democracy Project.
