Power to the People

1/26/2010 - Equality NC is proud to present, in conjunction with UNC's Lambda Law Students Association, two power of attorney workshops. While marriage provides more than a thousand rights to couples, many of which cannot be gained through any other civil contract, some very important basic ones can be achieved with a power of attorney (POA).

The two POA clinics will be in Chapel Hill on February 11 and Greenville on February 13.

The Chapel Hill Clinic will be at the UNC School of Law, 160 Ridge Rd., Chapel Hill, in Room 5042 on February 11, 6-8:30 pm.

The presentation will begin with a "Know Your Rights" segment, followed by one-on-one assistance from law students. The process will be supervised by Raleigh estate planning attorney Daire Roebuck, and other attorneys and law professors will be present, as well.

The Greenville Clinic will take place at Eastern Carolina University on February 13, specifics TBA. It will also begin with a "Know Your Rights" presentation, followed by one-on-one assistance from law students. The process will be supervised by Raleigh attorney Jeffrey Marsocci.

Refreshments will be served at both workshops, and a representative from Equality North Carolina will be present to provide attendees with additional information.
