Funding the Mission
Equality North Carolina's 2009 Leadership Gifts Committee has raised $105,000 in gifts and pledges to help prepare the organization for its next major policy initiative, an increase of $25,000 over last year. The leadership gifts campaign will continue through the end of 2009.
The Leadership Gifts Committee was formed last year when it became clear that Equality NC required greater financial suppport to get the anti-bullying bill passed and create new staff positions in community organizing and communications. The organizing position is now funded and we hope to fund a communications position by mid-2010.
The members of the 2009 Leadership Gifts Committee were Michael Edwards, Chair; Lorraine Johnson, Co-Chair; Kay Flaminio, Staff; Tim Alwran; Allen Broach; Rich Garraputa; Melrose Haas; Dennis Hayes; Russ Leciejewski; Ian Palmquist; Steve Tanis; Scott Taylor; and Ken Wittenauer.
The Leadership Gifts Committee encourages donors to join or increase their level of giving within the Equality Council, made up of donors who make annual gifts of $600 or more to Equality NC and Equality NC Foundation. The Equality Council has grown by 150% since 2005 and we are grateful to all its members for their sustaining support of our work.
