Senate Bill 1113: Clarify Legislative Personnel Policy - 1
This bill would protect employees of the legislature from discrimination based on sexual orientation.
- Status: This bill was not brought to a vote in the 2005 session and is ineligible for further consideration.
Bill Summary
Equality NC supports this bill, but worked to amend it to include an inclusive definition of sexual orientation.
This bipartisan bill would protect employees of the General Assembly from discrimination on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, or disability. Because sexual orientation is not defined in North Carolina law, Equality NC supports amending the bill to include a clear and inclusive definition which ensures the entire lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community is adequately protected.
