House Bill 2389: Funds for ADAP

This bill would strengthen the AIDS Drug Assistance Program.

  • Status: This bill was not brought to a vote in the 2005-2006 session and is ineligible for further consideration. However, related provisions were included in the state budget.

Bill Summary

Equality NC endorses this bill.

Introduced in the 2006 session, this bill would appropriate $5 Million for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program in an effort to ensure that low-income North Carolinians living with AIDS have access to life-saving drugs. Additionally, the bill would raise the eligibility level for the program from 125% of Federal Poverty Level to 300% of FPL. North Carolina's current eligibility level is the worst in the nation, forcing many poor North Carolinians to do without expensive AIDS drugs.
