A listing of local governments known to have LGBT-inclusive policies related to non-discrimination or domestic partnership.

Local Governments are evaluated on four types of policies:

  • Sexual Orientation Non-Discrimination - Local government has adopted a non-discrimination policy that includes sexual orientation for government employees
  • Gender Identity Non-Discrimination - Local government has adopted a non-discrimination policy that includes sexual orientation for government employees
  • Domestic Partner Benefits - Local government provides it's employees with equal benefits for same-sex couples as married opposite-sex couples to the extent possible under state and federal law.
  • Domestic Partner Registry - Local government has a registry allowing same-sex couples to register their relationships.

Note: Local governments do not have the authority to address employment discrimination by private employers; that must be addressed at the state legislature.
