Our Three Corporate Entities
Equality North Carolina refers to three nonprofit corporations: Equality NC, Equality NC Foundation, and Equailty NC PAC.
For legal reasons, we need all three corporations to work effectively on behalf of LGBT North Carolinians.
Equality NC, Inc. is the parent organization, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit group under IRS code. This entity houses our membership, and does most of our advocacy. Because of the political nature of this work, contributions and dues to Equality NC, Inc. are not tax deductible.
Equality NC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit group under IRS code. This entity does educational programming, strategic research, and grassroots organizing. Contriubtions to Equality NC Foundation are tax deductible as charitable donations to the extent allowed by law.
Equality NC PAC is a registered state political action committee. This entity endorses and supports fair-minded candidates for state and local offices. Because of the political nature of this work, contributions to Equality NC PAC are not tax deductible and must be reported to the State Board of Elections.
